Pheasant Ridge estate-grown wines are named for the wild
birds often seen in the vineyard. The vineyard, planted in
1979, is one of the oldest in Texas and includes Merlot,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc
and Chardonnay. Recognized nationally for quality since its
first releases in 1983, Pheasant Ridge wines have been
called the French wines of Texas. They are made in blended
styles more typical of France than of the United States.
Pheasant Ridge Cabernets are consistently among the oldest
in Texas when released. The tasting room is open for free
tours and tastings. Head north from Lubbock on I-27, take
exit 14, FM 1729 east for two miles to FM 2600, then south
one mile.
